About the project: The main objective is to raise the awareness of the early dropouts in gymnastics and represent a relatively new sport: diving.By putting emphasis on the synergic effects of these two sports (diving and gymnastics)and sharing knowledge between relevant partners, the project will enable gymnast to stay longer in sport by having the diversity of training, reduce fear, and in the end try to participate as a diver. Divers will have access to gymnastics halls, trampolines, all the equipment necessary to perform on a high level. Also, kids from an early age will be informed about this sport and have the opportunity to engage, making diving popular among gymnasts, and vice versa.
The specific objectives are:
- To enhance physical activities through the use of two complementary sports, diving and gymnastics, promoting a close bond between sports, and preventing early dropouts from the sport.
- To promote education in and through sport for coaches and staff by developing non-formal sharing of knowledge and training that links gymnastics and diving, with an emphasis on cross-sports benefits.
- To encourage the use of existing facilities as a way of helping other sports to develop better training conditions. The objectives will be achieved by creating and sharing a new model of transmitting and sharing the experiences of those responsible for organising training processes in gymnastics and diving. The project will contribute to the development of the European dimension in grassroots and recreational cross-sports activity, creating and sharing the experiences of those responsible for the management, sports technicians, and those responsible for training in gymnastics and diving of all ages. By producing the Manual with exercises especially adapted for both sports, the project will ensure that the results are for use beyond the project lifetime.
